Description

This elegant volume collects a series of fairy tales from different countries of the world illustrated by 16 color plates applied on strong paper and protected by Edmund Dulac's tissues. This French illustrator, but naturalized English, moved to London in 1904 where he established himself with his talent in what was at the time the center of the publishing world linked to illustration. In his style we find echoes of Japanese prints and the oriental world fused with the influences of the Pre-Raphaelite movement and the contemporary Viennese painting of Gustav Klimt. In particular, in our volume, Dulac's unmistakable style adapts to the stylistic features of the traditions of origin of fairy tales, in a truly effective exercise of compositional virtuosity.
