Additional Information

Notes historical bibliographic

The history of the bronzesmith Duccio Banchi's laboratory is an authentic example of transmission of the artisan profession: Vasco Cappucini learned the art of working bronze and metals from the master Emilio Ercolani and in 1925 opened his laboratory. Cappucini in turn passed the trade on to his only pupil Lamberto Banchi, who in 1946 took over the business which he then passed on to his son/student Duccio. Today the company is carried out with passion by Lamberto's son, Duccio, a bronze craftsman specialized in the manufacturing of small furnishings and decorative items, created with personalized workmanship. The shop, where the period furnishings are still preserved, also deals with the restoration of ancient objects. A rare example of work handed down from master to pupil in one of the oldest Florentine artisan workshops. Lamberto also left as a legacy in the workshop an extraordinary diary in which he recounts the enthusiasm for a trade he learned as a child, as if it were a game, a spirit and a passion that Duccio inherited.
