Goyard Travel Trunk Wood France 1905 ca.
Wardrobe trunk from around 1905, in wood covered in hemp, borders in peu de porc, reinforcements, profile and studs in metal. Once opened, the trunk becomes a real wardrobe with two doors, with hangers and five drawers. The handles of the drawers are in leather with engraved initials. The conditions are very good; there is the possibility of restoration, with the addition of handles, cleaning and polishing of the canvas which has however been well preserved over time. The trunk is of great workmanship, in the tradition of the Parisian brand Goyard. Goyard Paris has been one of the most important brands in the world for two hundred years now. He began producing trunks as one-of-a-kind and entirely handmade pieces as early as the end of the 18th century with the Maison Martin, which created quality packaging for valuable items. Francois Goyard was hired as an apprentice at the Maison in 1845, to later take the helm and pass it on to his son Edmond. Over the years the trunks have continued to follow the highest and most rigorous standards. This piece, a piece of furniture or a collection, can be restored on request.
